COMPLETION OF IKON CONNAUGHT IN KUALA LUMPUR

SPARK recently enjoyed the opening of IKON Connaught – an iconic new shopping, leisure and office landmark in Cheras on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. SPARK designed a ‘twin-speed’ façade for this prominent building, which is experienced at the pedestrian scale as well as through the windscreen of cars on the adjacent east-west link road.

The double-layered façade consists of an outer skin of aluminium tubes concealing a contrasting inner skin featuring graphics and signage. The fluid outer skin appears to open up – as if being lifted up at one corner. The IKON façade can be read as a cheeky play on the highway billboard, or as a garment that opens up to reveal a vibrant inner lining.
