A sustainable approach to design involves more than the application of best-practice techniques. It requires thinking that is broad, respectful, and innovative. SPARK’s perception of sustainability extends beyond the physical environment and the resources used by it, to the interests of clients, project users, and the broader community. High standards and realistic outcomes are targeted through the balancing of social, economic, and environmental factors. This applies from design inception to completion, and onward through consideration of the whole life cycle of the building.

SPARK’s work consistently achieves the highest standards of green accreditation through industry-recognised programmes and rating systems such as Green Star, LEED, and Green Mark. Equally valuable are the experiences generated by completed projects – among them the four-degree drop in ambient temperature at Clarke Quay that was achieved via passive means; the social ripple effect generated by Fai-Fah Prachautis, Bangkok; the award winning Shanghai International Cruise Terminal becoming the first project to use the Huangpu river as a source of cooling use and the Green Mark Gold rating of Raffles City Ningbo.
