SPARK’S HOME FARM SET TO TRANSFORM CYBERJAYA MALAYSIA
Spark Architects and Healthcare Provider HSC Healthcare Group have unveiled plans for HomeFarm–winner of the Future-Experimental Project at World Architecture Festival 2015– to be developed on a 6.5 hectare site in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
The first of its kind globally, Homefarm Cyberjaya a mixed used Residential development “will set a new benchmark in holistic living by combining healthcare monitoring & urban farming for multi-generational interaction in a green living environment” says HSC Medical Director and Cardiologist, Dr Soo Chee Siong. The 200,000 sqm GFA project comprises of a HSC Medical Centre, six residential towers, a central productive garden and farm, nursing home, retail, sports and recreational facilities for residents. The Residential units will be integrated with “MediHome”- a cloud based electronic Healthcare technology which allows users to monitor their vital signs and access it on the move.
Homefarm Cyberjaya aims to set a new precedent on Green Architecture in Malaysia. The focus on Health and Wellness is consistently applied throughout the design from naturally ventilated units, Green views, accessibility to sustainability. By positively converting the elevation into a vertical farm and integrating an air-cleaning Algae bio-fuel system, the car parking podium shrouds the inner garden courtyard from pollution and noise. Rain water and Grey water will be harvested for cleaning and maintenance, fish rearing, gardening and irrigation use.

The world’s aging population is changing and with it so must the way we think about the architecture that supports this section of our community.
Those entering retirement age are generally mentally and physically healthy and taking advantage of their “twilight years”.
The nursing home has long been unfortunate default institution for the majority of elderly individuals, SPARK’s Home Farm is a new typology for residential living that seeks to retain the older generation with a supportive cross sectional community rather than isolating them from it.
