UKTI MILAN CONFERENCE 2015

On 29 September 2015, Spark will join HLM and Buro Happold on a world stage to discuss The Future of Health. As part of the UK’s contribution to World Expo Milan, a series of trade missions and sector focussed events are being held by the government’s GREAT Weeks programme and UK Trade and Investment under the theme ‘Grown in Britain’.

The healthcare sector event programme has been put together by Healthcare UK and UKTI. Stephen Pimbley, Director of Spark, will present the practice’s acclaimed and widely publicised research, Homefarm.

Developed as a concept for Singapore, Homefarm is a truly innovative residential, social and environmental scheme, which could be applied elsewhere in the world. It provides a sustainable solution for the next generation of urban retirement housing, integrating health, social and environmental sustainability to solve the problems of a rapidly ageing society and food security. Other speakers at this session include Simon Bourke, Director of Healthcare at Buro Happold, and Catherine Simpson at HLM.

Pimbley said: “Healthcare UK and the UKTI have put together an excellent programme, designed to share the knowledge and experience of experts in healthcare, and present their ideas and solutions for the future. We’ll be presenting our innovative research that is designed to provide an answer to accommodating an ageing population and the need to work together to grow food locally, within the community itself.”

Other speakers at GREAT Week Healthcare include George Freeman, Minister for Life Sciences, Tim Kelsey, National Director for Patients and Information, at NHS England and Dr Richard Scott of Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
