Clarke Quay wins The Paper “2025 Annual thematic case - Placemaking Model"

We are grateful to share that the project has been recognised as the “Placemaking Model” in the 2025 The Paper Urban Renewal Annual List. More than 20 years after its completion, SPARK Architects’ Clarke Quay continues to be appreciated as a thoughtful example of adaptive reuse and urban placemaking.

Transforming a former cargo terminal into a vibrant waterfront destination, Clarke Quay preserves its historic warehouse architecture while introducing new layers of dining, retail, and entertainment—demonstrating how heritage and contemporary city life can coexist meaningfully.

This year’s Urban Renewal Conference, themed “Rebirth and Reunion,” celebrates exemplary neighbourhood revitalisation and the role of placemaking in building more sustainable, people-centred cities.
